South Ridge Elementary Access/Admission Policy
Revised: Apr 10, 2024 May 1, 2024 Jun 25, 2024
The policy of the Douglas County School District emphasizes the principle of allowing
students the freedom to choose their educational institution, provided they are eligible
and space permits, in accordance with district guidelines.
Located within the Douglas County School District, South Ridge Elementary caters to a
specific geographic region, serving as a public educational facility.
Within the district, a commitment to parental and student choice is upheld to provide
diverse learning avenues. An Open Enrollment Policy ensures that all schools within
Douglas County are accessible to its students, contingent upon available space.
At South Ridge Elementary, our mission is to inspire a sense of community, belonging,
and purpose. We embrace opportunities to welcome students into our school family,
prioritizing inclusion and diversity in gender, culture, and nationality. Safety and security
are fundamental, ensuring the well-being of everyone within our school environment. We
strive for excellence in achievement, character, and the ways we take action to make a
positive impact on our world.
While South Ridge Elementary primarily caters to its local neighborhood, it
acknowledges the possibility for students to transition to other community schools
within the feeder area. To support this transition, our feeder schools offer International
Baccalaureate (IB) programs, ensuring continuity for students on the IB path. The
sequence of IB schools in our feeder area includes Rock Ridge Elementary, South Ridge
Elementary, Mesa Middle School, and Douglas County High School, offering the Middle
Years Programme (MYP), Diploma Programme (DP), and Career-related Programme
(CP). Consequently, we strive to create an inviting atmosphere at South Ridge
Elementary, fostering a culture of diligence, global perspective, and lifelong learning
within our community.
